In May, I paid for the engagement ring and devised my plan on how to propose to my girlfriend, which included us returning to a favorite spot for the proposal, and then going on a 10-day road trip through Michigan and Wisconsin. Of course, paying for the engagement ring caused my net worth to go down, but in order to have a clear path forward for financial improvement, you also have to enjoy the journey. As I always have, I continued contributing to my Roth 401k and my Roth IRA to continue increasing my tax-free retirement savings. Also, this was the first month where I could look back a full year and see how my net worth improved. I was able to increase my net worth by $21,643 during my first year out of college
