Preston Gee's May 2021 Financial Journey

Preston Gee's May 2021 Financial Journey

| January 13, 2025

Hello, everyone! My name is Preston Gee and I am a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER® based out of Plymouth, Michigan. I am starting this blog to share the history of my personal financial journey in an effort to remove the “taboo” mindset from personal finance. It is my belief that open and honest conversations about where we stand financially is one of the best methods of finding ways to improve and form better habits to set yourself up for financial success. This blog will begin with my college graduation, and I will have a weekly blog post to break down how my income, expenses, and net worth progressed each month until I reach present day at which point I will transition to monthly updates. Without any further ado, I give you my financial journey of May, 2021:

Starting Net Worth: Approximately -$26,500

After graduating college in May, 2021 I spent a week traveling with friends prior to starting my full-time career as a financial planner with Peak Wealth Management. At the beginning of the month I passed my first licensing exam which resulted in a $2,500 bonus from my new employer. I took $1,400 of this and purchased Bitcoin through Coinbase because the cryptocurrency had just gone through a 33% drop. I also spent $1,887 covering various expenses including the travel, moving back home, and buying professional clothes for my new career.

Ending Net Worth: -$24,984

None of the above information is a recommendation. This blog is purely intended as commentary on things that have happened along my financial journey.
