Preston Gee's February 2022 Financial Journey

| March 17, 2025

Starting Net Worth: -$7,482

February was another fantastic month for multiple reasons. First, it was the month where I officially moved out of my grandparents basement and began to live on my own (with my girlfriend and our roommate). Second, I filed my taxes in February and learned I would be receiving a refund of $3,899.50. Finally, this was the month where I decided I would propose to my girlfriend, and I began planning out how exactly to do that. As a result of all of these factors, I also made a couple financial decisions. I added $2,500 to my Roth IRA this month since I had received a larger than anticipated tax refund, which put me ahead of schedule to max it out. Additionally, I sold my crypto holdings with the intention of using these funds to help pay for the engagement I was planning. I only ended up with a small profit from crypto, which is why I mentioned in my October, 2021 post that I should have sold back then. As always, I continued to contribute 4% to my Roth 401k and received the full match. My total expenses for this month came to $2,549.38.

Ending Net Worth: -$2,612
