As my first calendar year out of college came to a close, I felt good about where I was headed financially because I stuck to my goals to get a good head start for my future. In December, I completed maxing out my Roth IRA over the course of 7 months by adding another $850 and also continued getting my 401k match with a 4% Roth contribution. Additionally, I used my Christmas bonus and then some bank money to make my first ever student loan payment in the amount of $702.96. To wrap up the year, I finalized a lease to move into an apartment with my girlfriend and my cousin, who would be living with us. Our move-in date was set for February, and my total expenses for the month totaled $1,689.96.
