The month of January saw us start to talk with a mortgage broker and a realtor to begin taking steps towards buying our first home. In the meantime, we continued contributing to our 401k’s, and the market performed positively, which also helped out. At the beginning of each year, we also update the value of our “property” (in this case, cars) to try and get a better estimate for the true market value. This year, that meant marking down the value of my car by about $3,000. Finally, we completed the first half of the deposit for our wedding which was now only 7 months away!
