Gee Family Financial Journey: February, 2024

| September 01, 2025

Starting Net Worth: $86,596

February reminded us that unexpected expenses are simply part of the journey. Our rental property took an unfortunate turn when the water heater broke and flooded the common area. Replacing the units wiped out nearly all of the property’s cash flow profit for the year. On top of that, my car required $836.74 in repairs, which made the month feel especially heavy on expenses. The silver lining was knowing that my car loan was only a couple of months away from being paid off, which helped soften the frustration of paying for repairs.

Even with setbacks, we stayed focused on our bigger goals. We continued saving toward the single family home we want to purchase later this year, and we also completed our annual $5,000 student loan payment as part of the repayment program we have been following. Meanwhile, the stock market performed well, allowing our investments to grow nicely on top of our regular contributions.

The takeaway is that financial progress rarely moves in a straight line. Rental properties, vehicles, and everyday life will always bring surprises. What matters most is having a plan and sticking to it. By consistently saving and investing, we can absorb unexpected costs without derailing long-term goals.

Ending Net Worth: $94,349
