Starting Net Worth: $46,241
The big moment finally arrived—our wedding month! After all the planning, excitement, and anticipation, we had an amazing time celebrating with our closest family and friends. It was everything we hoped it would be, and then some. Shortly after, we jetted off to Jamaica for our honeymoon, ready to relax and enjoy our first adventure as a married couple. Unfortunately, things took an unexpected turn when I broke my leg during the trip. Not exactly the kind of memory we were hoping to bring back! Once we returned home, much of my time was spent at doctor appointments and working through a treatment plan. But even with the injury, we were still grateful to begin this new chapter together.
On the financial front, things also began to settle back into a rhythm. The rental property repairs that had dragged on for weeks were finally completed, which brought a welcome sense of normalcy. With that wrapped up, we resumed our Roth IRA contributions, continuing to build on top of our regular 401(k) savings. While the stock market declined in August, we viewed it as an opportunity—buying more shares at a lower price is usually a smart move for the long term. It’s never fun to watch the market dip, but we’ve learned to stay focused on the bigger picture.
We also had a couple of extra expenses this month as we started preparing for two upcoming weddings—Natasha was a maid of honor in September, and I was the best man in another. Between suits, dresses, travel, and gifts, those celebrations added to our budget, but we were excited to support our friends on their big days. Even with a few bumps along the way (literally), August was filled with love, memories, and forward momentum—both personally and financially.
Ending Net Worth: $54,150
